Prerequisites:

  • Minimum of 5 years continuous experience in Human Resources and Health and Safety Grade 12 diploma/ GED required; post- secondary education preferred. CHRP designation
    preferred
  • Solid understanding of the Employment Regulations; WSIA; Human Rights, OHSA, EEOC and OSHA
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written; must possess intermediate to advance computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications
  • No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
  • Successful completion of Aptitude Test and Company medical
  • Occasional travel to the United States required

General Responsibilities:

  • Must maintain absolute confidentiality and remain impartial
  • Supervise the Human Resources depart operations, processes, goals and objectives
  • Ensure overall positive employee relations between all levels of the Organization.  Act as a liaison between employees and the management team; providing support and guidance as required
  • Responsible for location Manpower requirements; including scheduling (direct and staffing)
  • Take the lead in creating and developing organizational policies and procedures.  Advise and assist employees of all levels of the organization, including management; on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs and best practices
  • Investigate employee relations and/or matters of discipline.  Advise on the appropriate corrective action ensuring a fair and consistent approach across all locations and levels.  Administer the corrective action process
  • Assist managers in conducting a training needs analysis to determine appropriate and necessary training across the company
  • Assist in planning the organization human capital needs, in conjunction with department managers.  Supervise all recruitment and selection activities
  • Assist in ensuring compliance to all Health and Safety rules and regulations across the company
  • Assist in completing all elements of WSIB claims and requirements
  • Ensure all components of the EMC Safety Group are followed and completed on schedule
  • All other tasks as assigned
