Design Technician
Location: Guelph area
Pay Rate: $ 65 000 – 85 000 (D.o.E)
Shift: Days (Monday–Friday)
Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Technician. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality system engineering solutions across both standard and custom product lines, ensuring technical excellence from design through to commissioning.
Responsibilities:
- Develop system designs, including component selection, installation instructions, training manuals, and engineering submittals in line with project specifications
- Produce detailed engineering designs from concept through to installation and commissioning
- Analyze current project operations and recommend improvements, supporting decision-making processes
- Prepare and review engineering documentation such as P&IDs, design calculations, fabrication drawings, component specifications, and Bills of Materials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, cost-effective system designs
- Support and implement standard design procedures, workflows, and change control processes
- Assist with system start-up, commissioning, and performance testing as required
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Professional Engineer designation (P. Eng) required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks
- Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical/system engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of liquid and air handling systems, including pipe/duct sizing and equipment sizing (pumps, blowers)
