Our client, in the food industry is seeking a Director, Food Safety & Quality
Location: Windsor Area
Start Date: ASAP
Wage: $125,000 – $140,000/annum

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive programs to mitigate food safety risks, consistently delivering
exceptional quality results. This includes incorporating customer and regulatory requirements into our
programs.
Oversee the operations of the Quality Department, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints without compromising product quality and safety.
Provide strong leadership and support to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams, including
hiring, subject matter expert (SME) development, coaching, and mentoring.
Offer technical support to both internal and external partners, specifically in relation to food safety and
quality systems during ongoing production and new product development.
Establish effective reporting mechanisms to collect data and summarize trends, enabling monitoring of
compliance and continuous improvement of quality performance. This includes reducing recalls, customer
concerns, and fostering positive relationships with regulatory bodies and customers.
Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions in resolving internal and external issues.
Ensure timely and effective resolution of product concerns and formal complaints, while safeguarding the company interests.
Keep executive leadership informed of significant issues and provide regular updates on the health of food safety and quality programs.
Collaborate with various departments to cultivate a strong food safety culture throughout the organization.
Actively participate in external professional associations to stay up to date with industry trends, standards, and technologies in food manufacturing.
Ensure regulatory compliance with relevant authorities such as CFIA, SFCA, FDA, FSMA, and Organic
certification.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the food industry.
Bachelors degree in a science-related field, such as Chemistry, Food Sciences, Microbiology,
Engineering, or a related discipline.
Familiarity with regulatory and customer audit standards, including Safe Food for Canadians, FDA, Food
Safety Modernization Act, Global Food Safety Initiative, American Institute of Baking, etc.
Profound understanding of food microbiology, sanitation practices, associated risks, and control measures.
Ability to develop and communicate a clear vision for food safety and quality programs, aligning them with the company overall strategic objectives.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment, and effectively delegating responsibilities.
Proven track record in implementing and driving continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation, and consistently raising quality standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts, present findings and recommendations to executive leadership, and engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve complex issues related to food safety
and quality, utilizing data-driven insights and making informed decisions.
Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and SAP.
