Position Title: Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Oshawa, Ontario
Employment Type: Full-Time | Night Shift
Compensation: $77,625 per year


Position Overview

We’re currently on the lookout for a skilled and proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Oshawa-based team on the night shift. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant workplace by focusing on injury prevention, employee education, and enhancing safety practices. Prior experience in unionized and automotive manufacturing settings is highly valued.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage health and safety programs, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Act as a resource for management, the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), and employees on all safety-related concerns.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with legal requirements and internal health and safety standards.
  • Oversee WSIB claims and coordinate return-to-work strategies.
  • Evaluate training needs, conduct safety training sessions, and maintain up-to-date training documentation.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, recommend solutions, and ensure follow-up on corrective measures.
  • Carry out risk assessments, ergonomic reviews, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Lead regular workplace inspections and environmental monitoring activities (e.g., noise, air quality).
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to remain up to date with health and safety trends and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years in the occupational health and safety field.

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related area (CRSP certification is preferred).

  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s occupational health and safety laws and standards.

  • Prior experience in unionized and automotive manufacturing environments is a significant asset.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications (intermediate to advanced level).

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


Physical Demands

  • Regular use of computers; prolonged sitting may be required.

  • Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs independently; up to 75 lbs with assistance.

  • Frequent physical tasks including bending, lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
