Product Development Engineer

AWS/CES is looking for a Product Development Engineer for our automotive manufacturing client. 

  • Location: Holt, MI, or Lansing, MI
  • Salary Rate: $100k + bonus
  • Shift: Day shift

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading Tier 1 automotive manufacturer, is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support innovation, design, and development across multiple product lines. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll help transform new concepts into high-quality, production-ready components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Full Product Development Lifecycle: Manage projects from concept through production and post-launch support.

  • Engineering Design & Validation: Create and test designs, conduct tolerance stack-ups, and ensure functional performance.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Develop and maintain detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications per GD&T standards.

  • Manufacturing Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are efficient, cost-effective, and feasible for production.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with quality, production, and program teams to support DFMEA and engineering change processes.

  • Research & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends—implement new technologies such as additive manufacturing, AI analytics, and design simulation tools.

  • Safety & Quality Commitment: Maintain compliance with company safety protocols and support overall operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Product Development, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing).

  • 2–3 years of relevant product or manufacturing engineering experience.

  • Certified or knowledgeable in GD&T, Root Cause Analysis, and Lean/Kaizen/6 Sigma principles.

  • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong understanding of DFMEA, DFM/A, and engineering change processes.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
