Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead operations on the manufacturing floor. This role is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and team performance while maintaining positive employee relations in a union environment. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with technical knowledge, lean manufacturing experience, and the ability to manage production in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping
Promote a positive work environment and maintain strong employee relations
Apply union contract guidelines and plant policies fairly and consistently
Adjust work assignments based on customer demand and part availability
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when needed
Supervise training and orientation of team members
Coordinate production schedules with Production Control and other departments
Monitor downtime, set-up time, and productivity reports and implement corrective actions
Document attendance, overtime, and production metrics
Work cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, and Accounting
Ensure product quality, participate in NCP reviews, and address quality concerns immediately
Lead 5S initiatives and maintain workplace organization standards
Enforce safety policies and report accidents, injuries, and near misses
Participate in operational improvement events and proactively address abnormalities
Execute attendance and overtime policies
Qualifications & Skills
Willing to work 2nd shift, with flexibility for other shifts
Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and lean tools
Mechanically inclined with understanding of production equipment
Proficient in Microsoft Office; MRP system experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints
Knowledge of robotic welding and CNC machining preferred
Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
Experience troubleshooting machinery and performing minor repairs
Ability to lead teams professionally and consistently in a union environment
