Senior Geotechnical Lab Supervisor

Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Laboratory Supervisor
Location: Markham, Ontario (On-site)
Salary: $80,000–$95,000

Canadian Executive Search Group is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Laboratory Supervisor for a reputable engineering consulting firm. This position offers the chance to oversee daily laboratory operations, guide a team of technicians, and uphold superior standards in geotechnical and materials testing.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of laboratory operations, including personnel, equipment, budgeting, and strategic planning.

  • Conduct and supervise geotechnical and construction material testing for soil, rock, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete following ASTM, ASHTO, and CCIL standards.

  • Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation, calibration schedules, and sample tracking.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and technical support to laboratory staff to ensure consistent, high-quality results.

  • Plan and coordinate workflow, project schedules, and resource distribution to meet deadlines efficiently.

  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams, assisting with proposals, reporting, and business development activities.

  • Promote and enforce safety and compliance across all laboratory and field operations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in geotechnical laboratory management and materials testing.

  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and overseeing lab operations.

  • In-depth understanding of geotechnical and materials testing methodologies and standards (ASTM, ASHTO, CCIL, etc.).

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and people management skills.

  • Proven ability to train and mentor staff while upholding QA/QC standards.

  • Flexibility to travel for field assignments as required.
