AWS/CES is looking for a Sr Manufacturing Engineer for our automotive manufacturing client

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Development
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost.
- Support new product launches from prototype through full production.
- Design and implement manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standardized operating procedures.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
Process Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, minimize scrap, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Drive corrective and preventive actions to improve manufacturing performance.
Equipment & Automation
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Controls, and Production teams to troubleshoot equipment and improve process reliability.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and process enhancements to support production goals.
New Program Launches
- Participate in APQP activities and support successful product launches.
- Develop process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and manufacturing documentation.
- Coordinate equipment trials, process validation, and production readiness activities.
- Support PPAP submissions and customer launch requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Support engineering changes and continuous process optimization.
- Assist with capital equipment planning and implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and production personnel.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements.
- Promote a safe work environment while supporting environmental and safety initiatives.
- Participate in audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aluminum die casting, lightweight metals, or Tier 1 automotive manufacturing.
- Knowledge of robotics, automation systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and industrial manufacturing technologies.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing data analysis tools.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
